The kingdom of heaven is like a grain of mustard seed that a man took and
sowed in his field. 32 It is the
smallest of all seeds, but when it has grown it is larger than all the garden
plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and make nests in
its branches Matthew 13:31-32
A project of the Foundation for the
Episcopal Diocese of Wyoming and the Episcopal Diocese of
Wyoming, the Mustard Seed Mission is the seed for local, national, and
international mission through the churches in Wyoming. To seed the project, the
Foundation offered $12,000 to every parish with the only stipulation that the
money be used to fund mission (whatever form that took). The churches
responded! Forty seven churches took up the call for mission and $564,000 was
seeded into Wyoming parishes. Each parish had a year to discern and develop their Mustard Seed Mission project before reporting on what they accomplished to the Diocese community at the Wyoming Convention in October. Every project was different and as unique and wonderful, as each congregation is unique and wonderful. There was, however, a common thread in all projects: the $12,000 was a seed to be planted and cultivated. The idea was not a single year of mission (a single harvest), but continued harvests off the planting of that first seed. Check back after the October Convention (October 1-4) for a listing of what wonderful projects were started through the Mustard Seed Mission. |
